Reflection
Standard V requires teachers to be life-long learners committed to expanding and sharing knowledge. Teachers are leaders in the community and in the education profession. As such, teachers are responsible for participating in professional development and contributing to the field. By exhibiting leadership and excitement for technology in education, teachers promote the next generation of leaders in the field.
Artifact 1: Personal Resume Site
One way I have engaged in professional growth is by creating an online personal website. In IT755, I created a website that serves as an online resume and public discussion of professional outlook and goals. Designing an online resume is an innovative way to participate in a digital community while engaging in professional growth. Artifact 2: Women in Distance Education Research Paper In IT650, I wrote a research paper about the role of women in online education. In my time as an online student and as a professional in higher education administration, I noticed that the majority of online students were female while the majority of online teachers were male. I researched the topic and discussed the role of gender in distance education at length for the paper. The artifact demonstrates the evaluation of current research while promoting leadership skills of future educators. Artifact 3: Instructional Technology Plan The Instructional Technology Plan I developed in IT709 was one of the most complex projects of my educational journey. I designed a four-year plan for implementing new technologies in a hypothetical university library system. Creating the IT Plan involved detailing every step of the process, from writing vision and mission statements to scheduling and planning professional development for post-implementation. This artifact meets every aspect of Standard V. |

Future Learning Goals
To continue meeting this standard, I plan to maintain communication with other professionals in online learning and educational technology. As a leader of instructional technology in the field of librarianship, I will have many opportunities to share my knowledge with students, teachers, and other practitioners. My goal is to continue to learn and use my skills to benefit the learning community as a whole.
